Targeting: Device, Product, and Customer •

The Quick Announcement Bar offer various targeting features to help you select when to display a bar. This guide will cover device targeting, product targeting, and customer targeting.

On this page

Device targeting

This function will allow you to target the bar based on the type of device your customers are using. By default, the bar will display on both desktops and mobile devices:

With this setting selected, when the bar displays on mobile devices, a cap will be placed on the font-size and padding. This helps avoid large text sizes on smaller screens.

Desktop only:

Alternatively, you can choose for the bar to only display on desktops:

When set this way, the bar will not display on mobile devices -- only desktop computers.

Mobile only:

Finally, you can choose for the bar to only display on mobile devices.

When a bar is set to display only on mobile devices, there are no caps placed on font-size.

Product targeting

You can set the bar to be targeting specific products under the Page Targeting section of the bar setup. We also have a guide on Page targeting as well, which you can find here

By default, when Product pages is selected for targeting, the bar will show on all product pages.

Individual products:

You can select to only display the bar on individual products by clicking on the Add/Remove products individually button:

From there, a popup will appear, which will prompt you to select the products that you want the bar to appear on.

Specific collections:

You can select to only display the bar on products in specific collections by clicking on the Add/Remove products by collection button:

From there, a popup will appear, which will prompt you to select the collections that the product must be in for the bar to appear.

Product tag:

You can select to only display the bar on product pages where the featured product has a matching tag by clicking on the Add/Remove products by tag button:

In this example, the bar is being set up to only display when the customer visits a product page for a product that has the tag 'sale':

Be sure to add the same tag in the product settings:

This way, the bar will only display on products with that tag, and no other products.

Tag targeting requires that the app embed be turned on for the app in your theme:

Customer Targeting

This setting will allow you to target specific customer accounts. By default, all customers, logged in or not, will have the bar displayed.

Customer targeting requires that:

• Customers be logged in

• The app embed be turned on for the app in your theme

Customer Tag:

You can choose to target the bar to only display to customers with a specific tag:

In this example, the bar is being set to only display to customers with the tag 'vip'.

Be sure to set the same tag to the customers you wish to be able to see the bar:

In this example, the bar will only display for customers who are signed in and have the tag 'vip'.

Lifetime Spent:

Another way to target customers is by the amount that they've spent in your store since registering an account.

In this example, the bar would only display to signed in customers who have spent 500 or more (the currency is in your shop's base currency).

Hiding the bar:

Similar to targeting the bar so that only certain customers can see it, you can set the bar to be hidden from certain customers.

When hiding by tag, non-signed-in customers will still see the bar. The bar will only be hidden from signed-in customers who have the assigned tag.

Hiding by customer spend amount works differently. It requires the customer to be signed in. If they’re not signed in, the bar will not be displayed. For signed-in customers, the bar will be hidden for anyone who has spent less than the specified amount.
