Advanced Message Types (QAB)

The Quick Announcement Bar app is capable of displaying messages with customized effects such as stackable messages, rotating bars, sliding messages, and scrolling messages to help make your announcements more noticeable.

To learn more about these individual effects, please read more below or jump to each feature here:

Stackable Messages

The app can only insert one bar per page. If you are looking to have 2 bars display together, a different workflow is needed.

In this case, you can use our Stackable Messages feature to simulate multiple bars inside one QAB bar.

Like so:

Start by creating a new bar. Then, underneath the message field, click (More Options)

The message field will enlarge and buttons will appear underneath. Click on the Add Stackable Message

This modal will pop up. Fill in your message text and bar attributes. Then click Save (bottom right).

New code will load into the box with the message and styling code.

Repeat for all the bars you'd like to have:

And that's all there is to it. You can set the font down below. It will apply to all bars.  Be sure to Save the bar configurations (bottom right).

Rotating Bars

We have a video guide about how to setup Rotating Bars here:

If you prefer a step-by-step guide, please read below:

First, create a bar and customize it to your liking. If you have not setup a bar, you can read this guide which will walk you through creating a bar within a few minutes.

Once you're done creating a bar, click on "Edit"

In order for a bar to rotate to the next one, you would have to change the value of the Disappear After option to a number greater than zero. In this example, if you want to rotate the bars every 3 seconds, you'll have to input 3 in this field.

Once done adding the value, click on "Save".

The next step is creating another bar that you will be adding to the rotation. To keep a consistent look with the first bar, you can simply duplicate the first one and do some minor changes.

If you are creating a new bar from scratch, ensure that you set it to disappear after the number of seconds you would like the bar to display for before rotating to the next bar:

Once done, click "Save". Now these two bars should rotate. In this example, they'll rotate every 3 seconds.

By default, the order in which the bars rotate is determined by which one was created first. To modify the order, click on "Sort Rotation Order" then click on the Up/Down icons depending how you want to order the bars. Be sure to save after setting the new order.

⚠ Pease note
Bars must have the same targeting in order to rotate.

Click Save.

You'll notice that the app will have inserted code for you in your message field. The code contains the messages. You can still edit the messages at this point. Just make sure not to disrupt the formatting. Underlined in this image is the message text that can be edited.

You may also notice at the bottom that some code has been added there as well:

This code handles the animation of the text sliding in and out. It can also be edited if needed. For example, the length of time each animation takes can be adjusted here:

In the example, the value 4s represents 4 seconds.

If you want to add images in your sliding messages we have a guide here.

Scrolling Messages Premium Plan Only

You can create a "Marquee" style scrolling message that displays a repeating message on a loop:

Please note, this feature requires a subscription to the premium plan

To begin, click on More options found below the message field:

More options will then appear.

Click on Create Scrolling Messages:

In the following prompt, you will be able to enter the scrolling message you wish to display.

Click Save. You should see the message scrolling through the bar now.

You'll notice that the app will have inserted code for you in your message field. The code contains the message. You can still edit the message at this point. Just make sure not to disrupt the formatting.

You may also notice at the bottom that some code has been added there as well. This code handles the speed of the text scrolling through the bar. It can also be edited if needed. For example, the speed of the scrolling can be adjusted here:

The lower the number, the faster it scrolls and the higher the number, the slower it scrolls. 20s represents 20 seconds, the length of time it takes for the full animation to run.
