Adding Language Code to the Bar/Button Link
The feature to insert the language code into the link of the bar or call to action button, means that if a visitor is on a translated version of your site and they click the link, the page they go to will have the proper language code so that they can continue browsing your store in the same language.
You can enable this feature, when you Add a button to the bar or when you Make the entire bar clickable:
Example
Let’s say your store’s default language is English, but you also offer to view the site in French and Spanish using subfolders. You can set up a link in the button to: https://mygreatstore.myshopify.com/products/t-shirt
Notice how that link address doesn't have a language code. If a customer is browsing your store in French and clicks the bar or button, they would be taken to the English version of the t-shirt page.
By enabling the insert the language code into the link feature, the appropriate language code like /fr/
will automatically be added to the link when clicked: https://mygreatstore.myshopify.com/fr/products/t-shirt
This ensures the customer stays on the French version of your site. Similarly, if a customer is browsing in Spanish, they’ll be directed to the Spanish version of the page.
Note
No language code will be added if the button links to an external site, which is any site that isn't your store.
